Bridging students From Studio to Stage

At WPAS, auditioning is more than just trying out for a role or part - it’s a vital part of our training philosophy and our vision to cultivate excellence in the performing arts, from studio to stage.

Learning to audition is a practised art. It builds confidence, resilience, and the ability to rise to a challenge - essential qualities for any performer. Our Production Auditions offer students a chance to grow these skills in a supportive, nurturing environment.

All Inter, Teen & Senior students are encouraged to audition. Whilst not everyone may be cast as a Principal Character or Soloist, the audition process itself is an incredible opportunity to develop preparation, presence, and self-belief.

We teach our students to seek self-validation. If you walk out of that audition knowing you gave it your all - that is enough. Regardless of any outcome, how you feel about your own effort and growth is the most valuable takeaway.

2025 WPAS Concert Auditions

UNLIMITED POWER
CONCERT AUDITIONS

INTER / INTER ADV / TEEN/ SENIOR / ADULTS

Students are invited to audition with a performance piece lasting between 60–90 seconds. This may be in the form of a dance solo or duo, a song, or a monologue of their choice. All students will perform in their class routines as part of the production, regardless of whether they receive a featured role.

This year’s concert does not follow a traditional script.
Instead, it features interwoven scenes and characters that appear throughout the show to create seamless transitions and support class quick changes. If you choose to audition with two pieces (e.g. a song and a dance), please ensure that each piece is no longer than 90 seconds.

Please bring your music on a device with the necessary attachment or ‘dongle’ or connection to an AUX. Alternatively, email your song to info@woolgoolgapeformingartsstudio.com

THE NUTCRACKER

  • You may audition for up to 3 characters.

  • Ensure each piece reflects the distinct personality, story, and movement quality of the character you’re portraying.

We are looking for storytelling through classical technique, emotional expression, and character embodiment.

WHAT THE PANEL LOOKS FOR

We’re looking for confidence, passion, and joy! Show us how much you love what you do and apply everything you’ve learned at the studio.. now’s the time to shine.

Audition outcomes are not based solely on your performance. We also consider:

- Your work ethic in class

- Attendance and commitment

- Presentation (uniform & hair)

- How well you reflect the WPAS values

Graduating Seniors: If you're in your final year and wish to perform a Graduation Piece, please contact the office in person AND via email to confirm your interest.. Graduation is completely based on your proactiveness and communication (we do not invite students to graduate, it must be your choice.)

AUDITION TIPS

1) Start preparing now: Don’t leave it to the night before! Rehearsing early gives you confidence and polish.

2) Wear something you feel good in: Dancewear, activewear, or neat casual. Be well groomed and performance-ready.B

3) Breathe! We’re here to support you. Nerves are normal, but don’t let them take over.

4) Arrive 15 minutes early: Auditions may run on time, and this gives you space to warm up and focus. Find your calm - Whether it’s a calming scent, breathing techniques, a playlist, or just a comfy outfit, do what helps you feel grounded.

5) Bring your music on an iPhone, iPad, or YouTube link and any extra attachments or dongles.

AFTER THE
AUDITION

You (and your parents) will receive your audition outcome via email the week after auditions.

Solo / Duet / Trio Roles will begin in Term 4, with some items learnt during class and others in private or small group sessions.

Some performance pieces will be student-led, and others choreographed/set by a teacher.

If you're selected for a solo or featured item taught in a private session with a teacher, please note that private rehearsals are $36 per 30-minute session. Most solos require 4 - 8 sessions.
